As a massage therapist, I always encourage self-care, and one of my favourite ways to unwind is with a homemade spiced chai. It’s my go-to after a long day at the clinic or when I need a mindful break.
The key ingredient is ajwain seeds (also known as ajowan or carom seeds), great for digestion, bloating relief, and even congestion. Paired with cardamom and ginger, this tea is warming, soothing, and perfect for relaxation.
Homemade Spiced Chai Recipe (Serves 1)
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 ¼ tsp cardamom
1 ¼ tsp ajwain seeds
1 ¼ tsp grated ginger
1 tsp loose black tea (optional)
½ cup milk of choice (I prefer oat or almond)
Cinnamon or rose petals for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Boil water, cardamom, ajwain seeds, and ginger in a saucepan or teapot.
Add black tea (if using) and boil for another couple of minutes.
Pour in milk and bring to a gentle boil.
Strain into a cup and garnish with cinnamon and/ or rose petals.
Sip, relax, and enjoy!
