Massage

Massage Therapy is used to improve a patient’s health by applying appropriate pressure on muscles, connective tissues, tendons and ligaments.

Our Massage Therapy offers a variety of health benefits including pain relief, relaxation, improved muscle tone and stimulation of circulatory and lymphatic systems. We also use it to reduce stress and anxiety, help with pain, relax the muscles and rehabilitate injuries.

Many of our patients also find massage calming and relaxing. Massage reduces levels of cortisol (a stress inducing hormone) while increasing other hormones (including dopamine and serotonin) which have a positive effect on wellbeing.

Our massage therapists are experienced and highly qualified and are able to tailor the massage to suit your individual needs and get the very best results.

News, Tips & Advice

  • How can a chiropractor help you?
Chiropractors are highly trained in diagnosing and treating neuromusculoskeletal complaints. They study for 5 years at university including a 1-year supervised internship before graduating. Chiropractic is widely recognised as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints.
  • What do chiropractors do?
Chiropractors help restore balance in your body and nervous system. A session with a Chiropractor typically includes a physical exam which can include measuring range of movement and strength, assessing posture and alignment as well as functional movement assessments. This allows the Chiropractor to identify health problems and diagnose what is going on within the whole system.
  • What is a chiropractic adjustment?
Chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which our Chiropractors use their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint. The goal of this procedure is to improve spinal motion and improve your body's physical function.
  • What to expect at your first visit?
On your initial visit, we will have some paperwork with further details of your health history. Our practitioners will conduct a physical examination, functional movement assessments as well as take some posture pictures to help form a diagnosis. Our practitioners can refer out for further MRI or ultrasound imaging if its deemed necessary. If it's appropriate our practitioner may provide treatment on the first session.
  • Do I need to bring anything to my first visit?
There is no need to bring anything to your first visit. If you have any previous imaging or reports, you may bring them along for the chiropractor to view.
  • Is Chiropractic safe?
Yes, chiropractic is safe and effective. Our chiropractors undergo 5 years of study at university to become qualified. In order to remain registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia and AHPRA, chiropractors are required to keep up to date with current evidence and best-practice approaches. Each year they complete continued professional development to revise current research and techniques.
  • What is the difference between a remedial massage and a regular massage?
Remedial massage therapists are diploma-qualified to provide a more targeted treatment. Your therapist will balance your whole body in order to prevent pain and dysfunction, rather than simply focusing on the sore area. Your therapist will assess your posture and may quickly test specific areas of the body before treating you, as well as consider any relevant health and lifestyle factors. While the approach is more clinical, the treatment itself is just as relaxing as any other massage, and often more effective!
  • How can a remedial massage therapist help you?
Remedial massage can be highly effective in managing pain and tension throughout the body through addressing root imbalances. It can also be great in the treatment of headaches and migraines, the rehabilitation of injuries, and management of other chronic pain conditions. Massage therapy has also been proven to reduce stress and alleviate insomnia. Remedial massage therapists can additionally prescribe you exercises, postural cues and advice to help you manage your musculoskeletal health on your own.
  • Do I need to get undressed for my massage session?
No - your comfort is what matters most, and your therapist can work over or around any clothing you choose to keep on. While a lot of people opt for treatment with oil or cream, dry treatments can be equally effective. At a minimum, we suggest removing your shoes and any outer garments, and wearing softer clothing to your session.
  • Should I get remedial massage regularly?
Remedial massage, like other therapeutic modalities, should be seen as a tool for maintenance rather than a one-off cure. Many physical and lifestyle factors contribute to the build-up of tension and pain throughout the body. Depending on your condition, your therapist may suggest you have a massage every couple of weeks to every couple of months.
  • Should I get remedial massage and chiropractic treatment together?
Remedial massage and chiropractic treatment complement each other very well. Chronically shortened muscles can gradually bring the bones out of alignment, so getting a massage before your adjustment can result in a more effective treatment with longer-lasting results. Similarly, imbalances throughout the skeletal system can worsen muscular imbalances, so getting a chiropractic adjustment with your massage can prevent the build-up of tension and pain.
  • What is hot stone massage?
Combining hot stone therapy with remedial massage enables a more thorough warm-up of the muscles, which allows a more comfortable build of pressure. It additionally brings a more luxurious and nurturing feel to the treatment. Our massage therapists are experienced and highly qualified and are able to tailor the massage to suit your individual needs and get the very best results.
  • What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial hot stone massage combines the benefits of heat with the benefits of massage, to offer a deeply relaxing and healing treatment. Remedial massage offers a variety of health benefits including pain relief, relaxation, improved muscle tone and stimulation of circulatory and lymphatic systems. It can additionally reduce stress and aid in rehabilitating injuries.
